What is Escape the Room? The concept began decades ago as a very simple style of puzzle video game -- typically a browse game. The player is in a locked room, and must click on different objects to interact with them and find clues for how to break out.
Soon, it was turned into a real-life collaborative problem-solving game, in which a group is locked inside an actual room with various challenges to be worked through. It's very popular for corporate team-building exercises. Hey -- it's better than trust falls.
Starting today, June 23, 2016, Escape the Room NYC will be doing a new game, unlike any you've seen before. It's the first drivable Escape the Room challenge, using none other than the 2017 Ford Escape.
"Ford asked if I'd be up for integrating the new Escape into an Escape the Room game, and the end result is unlike anything I've created before," said Victor Blake, creator and puzzle-designer of Escape the Room NYC. "The SUV is packed with tons of advanced technology, and it was an entertaining exercise to integrate things like ultrasonic parking sensors into the puzzles and clues that are iconic to the game."
