Who says efficiency and capability can't go hand-in-hand? In a recent press release, Ford announced a new engine option for the upcoming 2017 Ford F-150 that proves that the two are not mutually exclusive. The engine in question is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 that boasts a segment-leading, V-8 defeating 470 pound-feet of torque; more than engines with nearly twice the displacement.
Additionally, the engine is paired to an exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission which delivers better acceleration and performance of the traditional six-speed options. Improved low-end and peak performance provide for increased payload and towing capacities.
“The 2017 Ford F-150 now delivers the best torque in the segment,” says Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, Product Development, and chief technical officer. “This class-leading torque arrives with a transformative 10-speed automatic that improves nearly every aspect of F-150 performance.”
The new 2017 EcoBoost V-6 F-150 begins arriving in dealerships in the final quarter of 2016.
